2007 Junior State Championship UpdateThe 2007 Junior State Championship will be held on Lake
Koronis on Thursday, June 14, 2007. The tournament will be going out of the
Lake Koronis Regional Park. The official tournament rules and entry form are now
available here: Specific information regarding the take-off and weigh-in times, as well the required pre-tournament meeting will be available soon and will also be sent out to the anglers after they sign up. The age groups for this tournament are 11-14 and 15-18. The birthday cutoff for the age brackets is July 31, 2007. Please note this is different than last year. The winner in each age group will qualify to fish in the FLW Junior World Championship which will be held in Hot Springs, AR at the beginning of August. TBF will be providing travel assistance money for each qualifier, based on the distance required to travel to Hot Springs. Additionally, lodging at the tournament will be covered as well. The anglers that qualify to advance will be fishing with the FLW Tour pros that will be competing in the Forrest Wood Cup that will be held later that same week. We are expecting that the National Guard, as well as other sponsors, will once again step up and make sure this is an experience they’ll never forget. In order for a junior angler to compete in the 2007 Junior State Championship, they first must join the Minnesota Federation of Bass Anglers and TBF. They can do this a couple of ways. The first is to sign up with their own club (minimum 6 members). The forms needed to do this are available at www.bassfederation.com, under Club Downloads. Simply change the forms to show this is a youth club. Send the completed documents, along with a check for $5 for each member for TBF dues (there are currently no state dues for junior members) to the address shown below. The other way (and easier) is to sign up under the youth umbrella club (MFBA Youth Club). To do this, simply send a check for $5 along with the junior angler’s information to the address shown below. PLEASE NOTE: Any junior angler that joined last year does not need to sign up again or pay any dues for 2007. Once they have signed up with the MFBA and TBF, they will need to fill out the entry form, sign it and have their parent/guardian sign it and send it to the address shown below. This can be sent at the same time as the sign up for the MFBA and TBF is. After the entry form is received, a confirmation letter will be sent out, along with the specifics on the pre-tournament meeting, take-off and weigh-in times and other pertinent information. As we are not requiring youth clubs to be associated with an adult club, we are not able to require youth clubs to provide boaters for this tournament, so, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! If you are willing to be a boater for this tournament, please fill out the Boat Captain section of the entry form and send it along with a copy of your current proof of insurance to the address below. If you are willing to help out in any other way, please send an e-mail to info@mnbass.org. Please send all membership sign up information and tournament entries forms to: Minnesota Federation of Bass Anglers 19833 W. Ford Brook Drive Anoka, MN 55303 We’re looking forward to a great tournament and qualifying two anglers to go onto Hot Springs and proudly represent Minnesota!!! If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact us at info@mnbass.org. The MFBA and TBF would like to thank all of our sponsors and ask that you keep them in mind the next time you’re in the market for their products/services. |
